THE HOOK & BAR is a waistband closure system incorporating a small formed metal bridge (bar) through which passes a tongue shaped hasp (hook) from the opposite direction of the garment closure, thereby holding the garment closed by "hooking" the Bar. The garment is held closed by tension on the waistband. To release the waistband the hook is slid past the BAR.
